Pioneer Park Donation Match

We would like to express our appreciation to all the citizens of Plain City who have so generously donated to our Pioneer Park fund. We have included a donation form with this newsletter for anyone else who'd like to contribute.
The new park will be a great help to our expanding Recreation Program. With this in mind, one of our donors, who wishes to remain anonymous, has issued a challenge. They will match each dollar donated to Pioneer Park at Recreation Signups this spring. So those who participate in our sports programs can double the impact of their donations.
Pioneer Park is located at 4220 W. Pioneer Road. If you haven't been by there lately, we invite you to go out and take a look.
Once again, a big THANK YOU to our anonymous donor and to all others who have contributed so generously.

Pioneer Park Update

Phase 1 of Pioneer Park is now complete. If you drive down Pioneer Road, you’ll see the bowery/restroom building, half of the parking lot, the start of the walking path, and the new grass area.

The plan is to apply for another RAMP grant for Phase 2. If all goes well, we’ll begin that section in the spring. It will include the grading, seeding, and sprinkler system for the remaining three-quarters of the park and installing the ball diamond, sand volleyball court, and disc golf course.

Phase 3 will begin in 2013 and will include trees, the playground, tables, and benches. We hope to fund Phase 3 with donations and this is where we need your help. We began our fundraising efforts at our 4th of July Celebration and had a good response. But to reach our goal of providing a beautiful park for the residents of Plain City, we’ll need everyone’s help. Please pick up a donation form at the city office and give what you can. While you’re there, take a look at the site plan for Pioneer Park, so you’ll have an idea what the finished product will look like. A special thanks goes to the Parks Committee for their help and suggestions on ways to make Pioneer Park a place we can all use and enjoy.

An approximation of Phase I is shown below.

Town Square

We have received funding for a renovation of the restroom building at the Town Square . Thanks to all those who took out and responded to our CDBG survey for making this possible. Look for construction to begin there next summer.

Arena Sceduling

The arena is available on a “first come, first served” basis. Time slots are also available for reservation. Please contact Colette Doxey at 801-941-0168 or call the city office at 801-731-4908 to schedule a time.

Donations Wanted

This year Plain City received a RAMP grant and purchased new scoreboards for the Lee Olsen Park. We are currently seeking donations to help with installation costs for the boards. We have received several thousand dollars and need 4 to 5 thousand more to complete the project.  There are opportunities for advertising banners along with the donations. Contact Colette Doxey at 801 941-0168 for more information.
